*** Eick x Cherie- MYIAH Gieske
Thank you for Myiah! She has changed my life in a way I could not have imagined. I have never had a pup with such personality and zest! Myiah has such a wonderful tenderness and wants nothing more than to show how much love she has to give. We're half way through our obedience training and she has exceeded in learning the commands and is almost ready for the next session. She has great instincts and is so willing to please. Myiah is almost six months old now and has turned into a gorgeous girl!
We will keep you updated on her progress! Toni

*** Brutus and I got state certified in April 2007. Brutus Gieske and I have already had in the 2 1/2 years together, what most handlers would love to have in an entire career. The other handlers at my department always say that they wish they could clone Brutus. He is quite amazing. I recently walked into our county jail (holds about 600 prisoners), and one of the inmates saw the "K9" on the back of my uniform. He asked if I have the dog Brutus, which I told him yes. He laughed and said Brutus is famous in the jail because of all the inmates that come in there with bite wounds, wishing they had just given up when I told them to. ***These (Hannes x Cita) puppies working in our classes are two of the nicest german shepherd pups I have seen in 14 years of training' John Henderson from TWO BEARS training center.

*** I have a Kinte Wannaer Hohen puppy. I am training him in Schutzhund and then on to Ring sports and Personal Protection work. I have met Kinte numerous times and must say that he is one of the nicest dogs I've encountered. He is a GREAT dog to work as well. My puppy is now 15 months old and is working great. His name is Judge and He is a great dog and is turning out awesome. Just thought you may be curious to hear about another awesome Kinte puppy!!!

***Hey Cindy, I just wanted to let you know that Mieke is doing
wonderful. I am getting certified in avalanche rescue and am hoping to
work with her on that as well. It all depends on if I get into medical
school in the fall. She absolutely loves backcountry skiing with me
and she is a freak about the snow. I can not decide if I should have
her spade or not... I would love for her to have puppies but she has
not received any awards and I am not sure if I have the time for it.
We walk a couple miles a night on nature trails and it makes her day.
She still sleeps in my bed, it may not be advised by trainers but she
is my best friend and I can not sleep without her. She is the most
amazing dog I have ever met!!! Thank you so much!!! I will send
pictures if you would like to see them. She has turned from a cute
puppy into a beautiful and amazing dog. She has truly changed my life.
I hope you are doing well. Again thank you. Cheers, John Rexroth

***(Gismo X Cita puppy) Hi Cindy,

She is awesome! We are in love. Took her skating yesterday. The kids were
skating and Lou and I played hide and seek with her. She has an amzing
nose. Never took her nose off the track the whole time. Did about 3 of
them. First we let her follow Bones along to get an idea of the "game" and
then put Bones away and let her have her own track. She is an imressive
little thing. I can't hide anything from her, she searches it out before I
can even slow her down.
She sleeps through the night, hasn't had an accident.
Has a really hard grip, trying to teach her to hold. The stronger grip and
tug she has the more I let go. So she doesn't win until she tugs and shakes
really hard.

The kids are teaching the run and grab really well!! :)
They run and she chases and really gets a hold of them.
Terrible to admit but wow, has a great effect.
I have to channel it though or else she will think she can do that to all
kids of course we trade the pant legs and feet for toys and usually
something covered in linen or puppy sleeve material.

Oh she was also exposed to gun fire and she never even lifted her head.
Solid as a rock.

*** CAZAN ENCLAVEHOF
Cazan got a SchH. 1 today under SV Ludger Vortkamp. Won High SchH. 1 and
High in Trial with 97 90 97. Let's put it this way, I know what I need to
work on for his SchH. 2. His heeling foundation is really solid; all V work.
(Thanks to you for steering me to the Ivan videos). Lost points for crooked
front and mouthing on all three retrieves. He took off really fast and
straight on the send out, unfortunately, he was so fired up, he broke at
about 8 paces and then took 2 commands to down.
Thanks again for selling me such a great dog. Mark Hamilton, Placer Co. SchH Club

***HAMMER V GIESKE (Kinte x Olympia)
Hi Cindy! Kona "Hammer" is doing awesome. My parents have been helping me take care of him. I moved back to Grand Junction and started truck driving for awhile. We found a good trainer in GJ so my parents started giving him lessons again. It's the basics that he knows, but it's mostly for my parents so that they know how to handle him since he is getting so big. I guess he is a total ball freak and will run for ever! I still have plans to do more training with hiim myself it's just on hold for a bit. We have had so many comments on him and that he is of the highest caliber and lineage or pedigree. Thank you for such an awesome dog. I will keep you notified when more happens.

***SOPHI (Kinte x Olympia)
Hi Cindy,
She's doing really well. We've barely gotten started and it's really cold here now, so we're not moving as quickly as we could be. That's okay though. Sophi is only 9 1/2 months old, and most herding dogs aren't started seriously until a year of age. She has great instincts. She picked up what to do within about 10 minutes. The trainer, who also trained my previous dog (Alli, who passed away in February), said that Sophi has 10 times more herding instinct than Alli did. It should be pretty easy to train her, considering that it is something that takes quite a bit of time, and the dog, as well as the sheep( or cattle), can't handle working together for more than 15 - 30 minutes at a stretch. We try to work 2 or 3 times a week on herding, depending on the weather, and daily on obedience. Over time, I'm sure she will start working with the trainer more smoothly. I don't have a huge amount of experience training herding dogs, the trainer does. I can do the beginning work, but when it gets more complicated, the trainer will be training Sophi and me. As it should be.
I have a photo of Kinte on my wallpaper, and one of my boys thought it was Sophi. She really looks a lot like her Dad, only a more feminine face. I can't say enough about how well she is doing and how beautiful she has become. She has great shoulder muscling, and is so well-put-together. I haven't seen a GSD in quite awhile that has all of the attributes that she has.
Anyway, I go on too much about her. My daughter even says so! I hope all is well in your neck of the woods. I have mentioned you to a few people, and there will be more when Sophi starts competing in herding trials and people see more of her.

REMO; (Arson x Ketzl)
**Hi Cindy, I just found your website and picture of Remo and myself. I just wanted to let you know he has been great. He has made several apprehensions, and just loves to go to work. Almost every handler I have trained with has been impressed with how well Remo works and how quick he learns. I have been told by a few different people that he is a "rare find," (in a good way). My family adores him and he has bonded well with them. He has never been aggressive towards them or challenged them for their place in "the pack....he is AWESOME!" Officer Brian Rankin, Haward CA K9 police unit.

BODO (Kinte x Ketzl)
**Bodo is a hard powerful large male, with a marked dominating 'presence' wherever I take him. He has high ball drive, runs like the wind, very nice full grips on the sleeve, and never backs down from any helper. His field presence captures everyone's attention- he is very focused and intense when he works. His coat is a beautiful dark sable, difficult to detect in a dark room, and very easy to take care of. Several Police officers have made offers to buy him on the spot, but I had to decline because he's my 'boy'. Numerous well respected folks in the dog training world have seen him work, all being impressed with his vigorous aggressive command of the situation, making comment of his intensity. To quote one well known person, "... a nationals level dog". BUT... when around the house, he's a big love bug, driving you for a back scratch, obnoxiously sitting on your feet, driving you to play ball, playing with our female Deika, and acting the gentleman that he is with her. Yes, he's my dog- first and foremost, never a crate hound except to transport to the field. Let's not forget that these animals are working dogs for the farm, not some cage queen. However, this is one serious dog, not for the squeamish or the weak at heart. That doesn't mean he an uncontrollable beast, everyone in our Schutzhund Gruppe has 'taken him for a spin' around the obedience field. He simply loves to work! I never worry when I'm out of town because I know Bodo will protect my wife as his training is not limited to Schutzhund; in other words, he's a very capable dog.

For those of you searching for a dog like Bodo, Cindy can help. Cindy doesn't dabble with the foo-foo nonsense of dogs that don't have the drives necessary to be trained to protect. Yes, she can get you a pet, one that you will be very happy with. But her dogs also protect the Police, civilians, perform Search and Rescue, and some are dope dogs. Most importantly, Cindy took the time to learn my wants and needs, matching this dog with my personality (once a Marine, always a Marine) so that we would have a great start in Schutzhund. I didn't want an animal that I could not use, she made sure that wouldn't happen. I realize that a percentage of breeding stuff is luck, but there's also some of it is an acute skill, and she has it. Currently Mr. Bodo is being trained for his Schutzhund 1 test, hopefully to be completed by fall. Thank you Cindy, for providing me with my best friend, my protector, and all around great dog, Mr. Bodo. I don't think I could love a dog more than him!

**My Campino x Cita pup absoutely loves people(will run up to anyone and just hang on them), absolutlely fearless, very good natural nose, dominant without being a complete *****, comes into bites with no regard to his self. A strong hunt drive is starting to devlopand good food drive, not crazy or anything but good. And a plus to him at least in my eyes, has a bit of a temper. I am Very happy with the dog. The pickiest of people would have a tough time finding something wrong with him tempermant wise IMO. Easy
police dog(maybe too much dog) or high sport. Also just xrayed and hips and elbows look good.Impressive enough to convince a top handler to purchase his brother which is arriving next week so we'll see.... very much look forward to seeing how they both grow. Would love a Dasty daughter. Without trying to be an advertisment, I would not hesitate to buy a dog from Cindy at Gieske again. Great service and honesty. Dan Juros

***Connor Gieske (Kinte x Olympia)..Hi Cindy,
Karen here. I am all moved into Oregon now and married to Dave. Have started Connor in Schutzhund here and he is doing great. Everyone is asking his breeding. His tracking is real good, my obedience sucks, and his protection work is good. I will attach the pictures of his 4th time at man work for you. He has adopted good to Oregon and loves to go swimming of course. Will also attach some of his first coast trip too. He liked that also!
Hope all is still going good for you in Colorado?! I'll send you a couple later of our wedding. We got married on our mules. It was great and the mules all did fine too.
Talk to you more later.
And thanks again and again for Connor!!
Karen

***His name is GED VOM GIESKE (Gismo x Olympia) and he recently arrived in Canada for a Schutzhund career. "He's great, no fear periods so far...very interested in people and stuff like machinery, fireworks, etc. (and isn't even picking up that *I'm* sensitive to those things, heheh)...stares at them without fear, and then moves on. No problem with slick (and wet!) floors either, and I'm taking him around the weird surfaces and elevations in playgrounds...he looks at me like I'm crazy when I put him up there but will obey me if I ask him to lie down while doing that. I'm going to take him soon to one of the pet superstores in the area...nice ware-house like style with lots of dogs and people and other animal-scents...should be fun. And thinking about some swimming lessons for him...he isn't afraid of water so it should be okay. My collie pup I had to spend half a day wading to my thighs in the pond which probably wasn't good for my skin...feeding her hot dogs just to get her to even WALK in it...heheh, so I'm looking forward to a funner session with him.
He makes me insane but I love it! You weren't kidding when you said HARD. This dog doesn't back down from anything. I always have to give him a compromise so he'll obey me. But man does he obey...I'll be playing with him one moment and then ask him to lie down, and he'll do it. And I love how he always listens to my voice as if I'm telling him something new. I always talk to my dogs out on walks when something interesting's going on and he cocks his head as if wondering if I'm telling him anything relevant. If I so much as whisper "Sit" he'll sit. It's amazing. I should be starting tracking with him sometime this week...last week it was raining too much. GRRR, Vancouver weather.
Glucosamine yes, Vit C yes, prepared raw not anymore--I switched him to prey model style raw feeding half the day (which I do with my other dogs and is easier on me), some info can be found here (http://rawfed.com/myths/feedraw.html). Half of his diet is human-grade kibble, 22-23% protein only, given as treats (i.e. small amounts throughout the day) because I'm afraid of bloat. And he often gets chicken feet as a treat...I hear the tendons in them are good for his bones or something. Even if they're not he likes them anyway.
He likes to jump so I'm being VERY careful when we play. He's like a horse...if I sit beside him he'll try to hug my head and knock my glasses off.
Anyway I'm talking my head off here so that's it for now. I'll try and get a video of him next time. Talk to you later. :) Katrina

***GANDALF VOM GIESKE: (Gismo X Olympia): So far he has been exhibiting high intelligence. When I enter the truck and he is sitting on my seat, he moves over to the middle, and has been doing this since just after the first few times after I moved him over. He has also learned how to use the dog door at home. I did a short "sitz" session this morning with food and he was very receptive. I anticipate that food motivated training will easily produce very quick good results judging by how easily he grasps tasks at 8 weeks. To say he is amazing is an understatement.
He has very high prey drive and will bite at anything waved in front of him, and holds well.
He has good bladder control and will go all night. He has not had any accidents in the truck while being left for 2 hour periods.
He is extremely brave and confident. The first day at the jobsite he crossed a plank over a trench right behind me without any encouragement, or knowledge of it, from me. He fell into the trench yesterday and didn't let a peep (soft sand bottom). He has been exposed to a variety of sights and sounds including loud equipment, power tools, and standing nearby while unhooking an air hose (loud, sharp, high pitched sound) without showing any avoidance or surprise, merely mild curiosity.
In the less than a week he has been with me I have seen his coordination increase dramatically. You can already see that he has very good movement, with a free easy athletic gate without any of the swishiness you would usually see in a GSD.
Overall he seems to have a calm, confident demeaner and takes most things in stride other than the typical whimpering of a baby dog, although I would say less than most puppies his age, and he shows a strong desire to be near people, but not in a anxious or neurotic way. He has been settling into being crated very nicely.
I am not going to the trial this week, but will be tracking Quattro and maybe a scent pad for Brutus followed by obedience at the training field whether anyone shows or not.
Puppies are fun!
Frank

***GABBY VOM GIESKE: (Gismo x Olympia)
Just wanted to update you on Gabby. She is doing great. We just attended our first dog show. We mainly did it to get her more dog socialization. She was also entered into a Novice class for CD. She did very well for her age and we had a lot of fun. Would still like to get out to see you again at the Schutzhund club. I have a few more Sundays off, so please let us know when a good time would be and where the club meets. I think you'll like how Gabby is growing.

***PUPPY OWNER: SKYLAR (Aiko x Eicke) Now, I could write pages and pages about my little girl, but you know all about that. So, I’ll just give some highlights, and send along a couple of pictures. Pictures, by the way, are becoming more and more difficult to get! The little girl runs around so fast now, and never stops to pose for me, that I’m having more difficulty keeping up w/ her.

Full-on puppy is setting in. Her appetite is nothing short of ravenous, and the primary diet remains Prairie and Primal (I learned a couple of places that carry the Primal, and so it is much easier to get). She gets lots of exercise (and so do I!), and is in to chewing EVERYTHING. I’m enjoying much more success w/ redirecting her to bones, balls, and other chew toys, so my hands and ankles are healing – but I still sport the battle scars of a GSD dad. She is continuing w/ her vaccinations, and the stool sample was clear of worms, other parasites, etc. Of course, although I’m (overly?) protective of “public” exposure for her yet, all the staff and doctors at our vet couldn’t gush enough over my pretty little girl. She really is striking, but I’m probably bias on that point. Her “training” also is going well. I’m constantly checking myself – afraid to screw something up, not do something right, and ultimately afraid that my lack of expertise will only be to her detriment. It isn’t as if I haven’t done this before, but I still worry. So, we take things slowly. She is pretty good w/ the “rules of the house,” pretty consistently lets me know when she needs to go out, is good about staying fairly close when I take her outside, and is getting comfortable w/ (or at least used to) the leash. A week ago, I could easily just let her roam and explore in the open yard, but now I need the closed area, or the tether, to keep up w/ her as she loves to dart off in any random direction, which often heads toward the road. Recall is definitely an area that needs more work.

***BART: MALE PUPPY OWNER:
The pup and I are spectacular --this is going to be such a great dog!! I just love him!! Still working on house training but we will eventually get it. He goes with me all day. Such a cry baby - wines a lot when he wants attention. He is just so cute I can't stand not to pet him!! Gave him a steak bone to chew on last night and he thought he'd gone to heaven but I got to thinking maybe he was too young but he seemed to enjoy it. I'll take more pictures to send you. I do let him sleep with me at night - probably a mistake when he gets to be 80 lbs. but this way I can let him out at 4:00 A.M. to go potty. He is pretty darn smart too. You talk about test a pups bite - I don't know what that means but by to look of my hands and his puppy teeth he must have a good one!! Anyway - I just love this dog to death!!
Thanks for selling him to me. (Bart has passed his herding exam with flying colors!)

***CONNOR (Kinte x Olympia) young male: WOW!! I am still always more and more impressed with Connor! I was back up in Oregon after New Years and had contacted an old Schutzhund friend from up there - Ray Blomberg. Guess he is the Pacific Northwest regional director for Schutzhund USA. And has been in Schutzhund since from my time in it. He was our helper from when I titled my Sch.III dog and was always great at working a dog. I have been talking to him about taking on Connor and getting him titled to a Sch. I for me. He met with me on Jan. 5 and brought his blind, sleeve, etc. and worked him and checked him out for me. Connor did great!! Only his 2nd time ever for protection work and Ray had him barking at the end of the leash, and bit and held onto the sleeve. Had a great grip too. Ray liked him a lot and said he had all drives well balanced. He will get back to me on the cost to train him and I am in the process of getting his USA Score book. I figure if he gets him to the Sch I for me, I can finish him to hopefully to a Sch III. I will try to get pictures for you next time of him working.
Thanks again for the great pup!!!

***FOXIE (Kinte x Ketzl) I just thought you'd like to see a picture of Foxy when she was 10 mos. old. (Kinte and Ketzl litter "a") She has become a beautiful dog and a wonderful companion to my family and to our male, Baron. Very playful and extremely protective, with great drive for the ball. Thank you for selling her to us.
Sincerely,
Maureen
